CHEF JAMES BOYCE ANNOUNCES OPENING OF GALLEY & GARDEN: Oct.22nd
The modern American-French inspired menu will showcase a variety of signature dishes with Southern influences such as: Barbequed Pork Belly Dumplings, Southern “Hot” Fried Chicken Bites, Wood Oven Roasted Carolina Quail, Coffee Crusted Bone-In NY Steak, Braised Angus Beef Short rib, Gulf Shrimp and McEwen Grits and more.
“We are very excited to become a part of the Birmingham family,” said Chef James Boyce. “We feel that Birmingham has an incredible food and wine culture, and we look forward to becoming an active member of the community.”
Chef Boyce has more than 30 years of experience in the kitchen including working at well-known establishments, such as Le Cirque, Mary Elaine’s at The Phoenician Resort & Spa, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Loews Coronado Bay Resort and Montage Hotels & Resorts. In 2002, he earned critical acclaim and a variety of awards including a James Beard Foundation “Best Chef Southwest” nomination in 2002. In 2008, Jimmy and Suzan Boyce started the family-owned and operated Boyce Restaurant Concepts in Huntsville, including Cotton Row in Downtown Historic Huntsville, Pane e Vino Pizzeria, which offers rustic-chic Italian fare in a superbly artistic setting, and Commerce Kitchen – influenced by turn of the century style and classic cuisine.
Boyce has consistently accrued the industry’s top awards, accolades and respect throughout his career. He has appeared numerous times on NBC’s “The Today Show” and was featured on the Travel Channel’s “Epicurious TV;” the PBS television series “How To Cook Everything: Bittman Takes On America’s Chefs;” and PBS’s “At The Chef’s Table;” as well as in numerous publications, among them: Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Wine Spectator, Cooking Light, Garden and Gun, House Beautiful, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Men’s Health, Runner’s World, Cookie, Coastal Living, Sunset, Riviera, Relish, Food Arts and Nation’s Restaurant News. He has also had the honor of cooking at the James Beard House in New York City.
